AI subscriptions and credits: what to check before you pay

Understand contract length, trials, credits, and cancellation before you pay for an AI tool.

The quick answer

Check what you are paying for: the app, new AI images, or both? Check how long the contract lasts too. A monthly payment can belong to a yearly contract.

Save the plan details before buying. Note the next payment date. After cancelling, check for confirmation.

Keep these in mind

  • Paying monthly does not always mean you can leave each month for free.
  • Each service can have different credit rules.
  • Deleting an app does not prove its subscription ended.

Check the right plan

Does it include the app for your computer? Does it include the models and picture sizes you need? A low price may cover a different app or fewer features. Compare the full cost for the time you need the tool.

Adobe currently offers Photoshop by subscription. Check the plan page for your country. An old offer for a one-time purchase does not automatically cover today’s desktop app. To find the cheapest suitable option, compare plans that include the app you need.

Read the contract length. A yearly plan paid monthly may charge you for leaving early. Adobe explains these fees. Read the terms for your own plan and country before buying.

Check credits and the trial

Credits are the service’s own counting unit. A bigger picture or different model may cost more credits. Do monthly credits expire? Are extra credits treated differently? What does an “unlimited” offer really include?

Krea’s price page, for example, separates monthly credits from extra packs. Whether unused credits carry over depends on the plan. Check your own service’s rules. During a small test, note the balance before and after each try.

Before a trial, check when it ends and whether payment starts automatically. Save the terms. Set a reminder before you need to decide.

Cancel and confirm

Cancel where you bought the subscription. If you bought through an app store, you may need to cancel there. Complete every step. Keep the confirmation. Check the account for the end date and whether it still shows a renewal.

Adobe says to check for confirmation by email or in your account. Separate plans need separate cancellations. Deleting an account, removing an app, and cancelling a subscription are different actions. Check what your service needs you to do.

Is a charge or license unclear?

Match an unexpected charge to your invoice, account email, plan, and payment date. Send those details privately to support. Do not share full card numbers or passwords. Asking for a refund is different from stopping the next renewal.

Did you buy an older app that now asks for a subscription? Check its exact name and version. Topaz separates older one-time licenses from newer subscription products. You may have opened a different app. Save important files before ending access.
